J R B`s Family Restaurant in Ansonia

I love this restaurant, have been coming for over 20 years. The interior is dated but comfortable, the staff is very friendly, and the food is excellent & reasonably priced. There's a separate bar area as well, I like to have a cocktail while picking up a hot dinner to go. My favorite dishes are the hot open face roast beef or turkey dinner, the gravy they make is like your Grandma would make! Very good meatloaf, and the pizza, grinders, and salads are also great. Oh, and def try the beef barley soup if its available!

Food was awesome I couldn't believe the size of their wedges, Hoagies whatever you want to call them. They have to be two feet long and I'm not kidding. The owner is There all the time his name is John. This place has great food is family-orientated it is a win-win so stop on down have some to eat and say hi to John. The barmaid is very nice too, very friendly easy to talk to and she's beautiful LOL

We love Jrb's, Dawn and John are the moat down to earth caring people and they aerve their food with love. The portions are outrageous. You never go home hungry or most likely leave with leftovers.

The food here is so good. I only wish they would get some updates/renovations. I was hesitant to eat here because it looks very 1950's-1970's. However the food is the best food you can find downtown Ansonia. Definitely better than fast food. All the other restaurants are kind of gimmicky. This restaurant has nothing really to love except the food. I didnt stay long enough to talk to the staff but Im sure they are nice.

Bar tender has no idea how to make mix drinks. Its boring. Food is okay. Could be a lot better. Not many people. And it was late. However, they were nice.

First let me explain what I did like about jrb's I've been living in this town for about a year-and-a-half and jrb's has been there allegedly for about 25 30 years I never thought they're going there cuz I always thought it wasn't a type of spot for my type of people but lo and behold I did going when I tell you that the food portions are astronomical it's ridiculous I had the meatloaf dinner which it was so damn big I have enough for two dinners but everything was not homemade that's what I didn't like about it and I assume they thought that I thought it was homemade but I'm a cook so I know what homemade is portion control absolutely I would go again for portions but I definitely would have to get something that's home-cooked or made from scratch made the order was definitely the best thing for me I didn't take a picture because I didn't even think to take a picture now

Super casual atmosphere, but the food is good. Come hungry sandwiches are huge. Soups are always delicious too.

Love this place for comfortable atmosphere but the close too early on the weekends now.

Last week was the first time we went to this good restaurant. But It is absolutely not the last. We had great time with the attentive service, with the first-rate cooking and fine drinks and with the decent payment. We will no doubt visit there in a short time.

Excellent, good beer selection ,good drink selection, good environment, excellent waitstaff and bartenders...

Food portions were way too big. The service could use some assistance as well. They only took the order and delivered but never came back to check on us.

Not bad if you like bar fights and very load mouth patrons. Food is inconsistent and management make no effort to regulate patrons aggressive abuse. To each his own but I will never go back.

This is unquestionably one of the coolest place to eat in the neighborhood. Every time I come there I am awfully satisfied. They preserve their high level service and the highest level of meals they offer. You can never go wrong with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

I love JRB's Restaurant.This is one of the best hidden gems in the whole valley.Great quality, portion size & the homemade taste is to die for.Their Roast Turkey Dinner, Huge Meatloaf dinner, Grinders ( a legit 14-15 inches), soups, gravy....their has YET to be a single time I have been disappointed with any item.Go give them a try in Ansonia & you will surely be back !!

two days ago was our first time in this fine restaurant. But It is obviously not the last time. We had great time with the good service, with the superb food and wine and with the honest payment. We will absolutely return there again.

First time I ever ate at JRB's was almost 25 years ago and I have been a customer ever since! They always maintained the quality of food and great friendly service. I love how generous their portions are.

The grinders used to be better. Not 100% dissatisfied, but disappointed.
